Integrated Water Resources Management: From Research to Implementation (IWRM). Integrated Water Resources Management in the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin (Central Northern Namibia) – CuveWaters, Pg 34

Description:

IWRM is a process which promotes the coordinated development and management of water, land and related resources in order to maximize the resultant economic and social welfare in an equitable manner without compromising the sustainability of vital ecosystems (Global Water Partnership 2000).

Summary / Notes:

The overall objective of the CuveWaters project is the conceptual progression and practical implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for the Cuvelai catchment area, with a focus on the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin in central northern Namibia. A regionally specific IWRM is intended to secure the livelihood of the resident population in the long term and thus make a substantial contribution toward poverty reduction and crisis prevention in the region.
